Joy Of Toy (UK+JAPAN)

The second main Joy of Toy event travelled around the globe to take place in Japan. The exhibition, in conjunction with CCC, was made up of two rooms filled with character artwork (in 2D and 3D) by Pete Fowler, Tokyoplastic, Dehara, Shin Tanaka, AtelierSANGO, Planet Planter and artists from HexaProject.

 



 

 

Each of the artists who were able to attend the event presented their work in a series of artist talks. The personal insight into how each artist develops their ideas proves that the platform of “toy” produces as rich a canvas as traditional media and allows the artist to create stories and backdrops (physical and metaphorical) for their character designs.

To take the Joy of Toy project to Japan and create this cultural exchange was a great opportunity for such a young concept. Thanks go to CCC and ANA for making the event and my attendance possible.
